Scanbrit School is situated in Southbourne, a pleasant residential suburb of Bournemouth. The school buildings are only 300 metres from the beach and a similar distance from the local shops, cafeterias, and restaurants. Adjacent to the school, public transport regularly connects Southbourne with the town centres of Bournemouth and Christchurch.
The main school building is a large detached house with its own garden. Opposite this building, Scanbrit has a purpose built study centre where examination and intensive courses take place. The classrooms are equipped with cassette recorders, white boards and overhead projectors.
Facilities for students include a common room with TV, a self-access study centre with 9 Internet-connected computers and 12 listening recorders, a study centre with 7 computers and educational CD ROMs, a small canteen where snacks and light refreshments are available and a hall with table tennis.
Since the middle of 1992, we have had a second centre available opposite our main building. We use this centre for students who are taking examination or intensive courses. This enables us to provide an excellent academic environment for all our students however long their stay at Scanbrit. We are proud to have maintained a high pass rate in the Cambridge Examinations. Over 2000 students have taken the Cambridge Exam since 1986.
