English World courses are designed to have an impact on the present and future life of the learner in an international environment. Our programme has five complementary elements that give the student all the tools they need to operate confidently and successfully in the international arena.

Skills Training addresses a different skill each day in a workshop which alternates between Vocabulary,Pronunciation, Business Skills, Active Study or Study Skills.

The Accuracy in Grammar session perfects core grammar skills.

The Knowledge for a Global Community session allows the student to practice and develop their listening, speaking, reading, writing and critical thinking skills via the medium of history, culture, economics, politics and the arts.

 

In the Examination Focus session students do activities, tests and timed exercises to work towards either a test that identifies their ability (Cambridge Placement Test), a test of business English (BULATS), the IELTS examination or one of the Cambridge Exams (PET, FCE, CAE, CPE).  We agree a plan of external assessment with you so that you can show your progress.

The Spoken Performance Workshop empowers the student to develop their skills in a range of speaking situations through role-plays, pair work and public speaking activities, often using drama based approaches to achieve confident performance in the spoken language.  We will also be offering video feedback for full time students in Spoken Performance classes. This will mean that students can instantly see and therefore improve their spoken performance and presentation skills.

Personal Coaching

Every full time student receives a short 15 minute coaching session each week, in which goals are set or reappraised and progress and course work reviewed.  On longer courses we stretch learners by setting additional tasks on which the personal tutor provides feedback.
